Evaluation of Minimum Unit Price of Alcohol in the Northern Territory

A report prepared for the Northern Territory Department of Health | 6 July 2022

The Northern Territory Government has today released the three-year evaluation into the introduction of a Minimum Unit Price (MUP) on Alcohol. The findings indicate that the introduction of the MUP, as part of a broader systems response to alcohol management, has contributed to a reduction in alcohol-related harms across the Northern Territory.

While AADANT supports the continuation of fair, effective measures which are proven to reduce alcohol harms, we also continue to highlight that significant further investment in both harm reduction and demand reduction measures - including bolstering treatment services - is vital to address the ongoing levels of harm caused by alcohol in the Territory.
