The National Workforce Survey for Child, Parent and Family Mental Health

You have been invited to participate in this survey as a professional in Australia who may work with adults who may be parents, and/or their children, or in other roles within health social or community services. This survey is open to any professional from health, social or community services across Australia.

This survey is being conducted by the Emerging Minds: National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health (NWC), to better understand the current awareness, knowledge, confidence and practice challenges facing professionals in supporting children’s mental health during their everyday practice.

The NWC is funded from the Department of Health, Commonwealth Government to assist health, social and community services workers to have the skills and confidence to identify, assess and support children at risk of mental health difficulties.

It is anticipated that the survey will take about 25 minutes of your time.

It will ask you to rate yourself on a series of statements regarding your current awareness, knowledge, confidence and practice in identifying, assessing and supporting the mental health children from birth to 12 years of age and their families. There are also questions about your work, and questions about your awareness of Emerging Minds and any NWC resources you might have accessed. There are no right or wrong answers.

The survey asks many questions about different facets of practice, but we really appreciate your support in persisting through the survey. Some of the questions may not be applicable to your situation, and N/A is an option you can select. Every response is so valuable for getting an honest picture of the current situation for Australian professionals. Emerging Minds will use the results of this survey to produce research reports, and workforce snapshots in order to collaborate with sectors on how best to build capacity in their workforces. The data will inform future workforce development strategies and contribute to policy advice to advocate for better supports for workforces such as yours.

This survey has been developed with guidance from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander National Consultancy Group, who are also involved in reviewing results and providing direction on dissemination.

Your responses are anonymous. After you have completed the survey, you will have the option to enter the draw to win 1 of 5 iPads. The contact details you leave for the competition are not linked to your response.

The time you give to this survey is so very important and will help shape child mental health policy to come, we thank you in advance for your time.
