This training will assist alcohol and drug workers to best respond to comorbid AOD and mental health conditions.
Participants will learn how to adapt and expand on their existing skills to assist clients to manage their mental health symptoms whilst participating in AOD treatment. This training will explore what you need to know about high prevalence mental health conditions and what works. Participants will deepen their understanding of comorbidity and build knowledge, confidence and skill in responding effectively.
Learning outcomes
- Recognise and understand common mental health symptoms in the context of alcohol and other drug treatment
- Undertake a thorough comorbidity assessment and develop an integrated case formulation to guide your practice
- Learn how to apply a range of alcohol and other drug treatment skills to working with clients with co-occurring mental health symptoms
- Learn how to respond therapeutically and effectively within the bounds of the alcohol and other drug treatment setting
