Online SMART Recovery Meetings

SMART Recovery online meetings use evidence-based tools to empower people seeking assistance for addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling, cigarettes, food, etc. The meetings are free and run weekly for 90mins. Each meeting is guided by a trained facilitator. Meetings are conducted using a combination video (optional), voice and the chat box feature. SMART Recovery mutual support group meetings use evidence-based tools to help people manage problematic behaviours related to addiction and cope with life stresses.
 

Online support meetings

While most of our 350 in-person support meetings will be going on hold during this period, we have dozens of online support meetings available to the public. And this number is growing every day.

The online meetings are free and run weekly for 90mins. Each meeting is guided by a trained facilitator. Meetings use the Zoom video conference platform and are conducted using a combination video/webcam (optional), voice and the chat box feature.

We also have limited online SMART Family & Friends support meetings available for people affected by a loved one’s addiction.

How to start an online support group

If you already facilitate face-to-face SMART Recovery meetings and wish to transition to an online meeting, simply complete this form and we will get your meeting setup online within 1-3 business days, including access to a private online meeting account, as well as training and support to get you started.

If you haven’t completed our training, first complete Online SMART Recovery Facilitator Training (see below), we can then set up your online SMART Recovery meeting - providing you platform access, as well as training and ongoing support.

Learn how to run an online SMART Recovery meeting by completing our six-hour interactive e-learning course. Part 2 of the training is a live and interactive two-hour video conference workshop that will run through simulated meeting scenarios and get you comfortable with facilitating online support groups.
