Alcohol Review Implementation Team Update February 2019


The Northern Territory Attorney-General announced the release of the Alcohol Review Implementation February 2019 Updates. Read the media release here.

The Alcohol Policies and Legislation Review February 2019 Progress Update sets out the progress against the NT Government Position on Alcohol Policies and Legislation Review Final Report Recommendations released 27 February 2018. Read the full Update here. The report shows 75 of the 219 accepted recommendations in the Riley Review have been implemented, with work continuing on the rest.

The NT Dept of Health commissioned the Menzies School of Research to determine the social and economic cost of alcohol in the NT. The total yearly social cost of alcohol in the NT is estimated to be $1.38 billion. Read the full report here. 

The Northern Territory Government is committed to strengthening research and improving data and evaluation initiatives in order to ensure our efforts to reduce alcohol related harm are successful.
