Where:
Darwin

The Association of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies NT (AADANT) is pleased to announce a new format conference in Darwin.

AADANT will provide a two-day professional development forum on May 15-16 in Darwin in place of a traditional two-day conference.

We have surveyed and consulted with our membership and relevant stakeholders to come to this decision, and we are excited by the opportunity to deliver a new event to the NT AOD Sector.

While some aspects of the event will remain similar, the purpose of this two-day event is to provide micro-skills training to the NT AOD Sector in a way that promotes collaboration and networking between NT AOD Services.

Keynote: Kate Seear of Latrobe University - Access to AOD treatment services from a human rights perspective

Our keynote will be Associate Professor Kate Seear, Principal Research Fellow in the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, an Australian Research Council Future Fellow (2021-) and a practising solicitor. She was an Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow from 2016-2019.

Kate has a multidisciplinary background (sociology, gender studies and the law). Her research is socio-legal and empirical in nature and typically explores connections between law, alcohol and other drugs, health, gender and the body. Her particular interests include intersections between harm reduction and the law, and drugs, gender, human rights and the law.

Before commencing with La Trobe University, Kate was Associate Professor in Law at Monash University. Kate is the Co-Editor of the journal Contemporary Drug Problems (with Professor kylie valentine of UNSW).
