Dr Dan Wilson
Dr Dan Wilson is an Addiction Medicine Specialist and rurally trained General Practitioner. He is the Addiction Medicine Clinical Director for Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (NT Health) in Central Australia. His work is grounded in a commitment to accessible, culturally safe and community informed care across remote and regional settings.
Dan contributes to AOD leadership across the Northern Territory through involvement in advisory groups and committees, helping shape system level strategy and approaches to individual and community wellbeing. Nationally, he serves as the NT representative to the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP), Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (AChAM) and as AChAM’s delegate to the RACP Policy and Advocacy Committee, providing opportunities to bring NT priorities into broader policy discussions.
Dan regards his clinical and advocacy roles as a unique opportunity to blend service delivery with systems level influence. He considers it both a responsibility and a privilege to amplify the voices and priorities of the individuals, families and communities of Central Australia. His approach to AOD service delivery centres on creating integrated, responsive and adaptable networks—services capable of real time problem solving and relationship building within a strong culture of safety. He champions models of care that support participants to define their own needs and shape supports that fit their circumstances.
