Key Worker (Case Manager) Banyan House

This position is for a case manager known as a key worker at Banyan House.

The Banyan House Residential Rehabilitation Program is a Therapeutic Community committed to providing participants with the tools and support to recover from problematic substance misuse. We currently have opportunities for key worker to join our team.

The Key Worker is responsible for developing and implementing individual treatment plans that are consistent with the Guidelines on the Management of Co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health conditions in alcohol and other drug treatment settings.

As a Key Worker, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to the development and delivery of Banyan House’s residential recovery program within the context of the Therapeutic Community model of treatment. The position is responsible for contributing to ongoing program development and quality improvement.

In performing their work, the Key Worker is expected to behave in a way that maintains positive relationships with staff and key stakeholders and provides leadership, guidance, and support to other staff to develop their competency in delivering contemporary recovery treatment.

Attention to detail and an unwavering personal commitment to meeting AOD and Banyan House practice standards, protocols, record keeping, and staff code of conduct is essential.

Some of the essential responsibilities outlined in the job description:

1. Individual Treatment Plans:

  • As a Key Worker, you’ll collaborate with residents to develop individualized treatment plans. These plans should align with the recommended guidelines for treating co-occurring mental health and alcohol and/or other drug conditions.
  • Your role involves tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual, whether it’s through one-on-one sessions, group work, or family support.

2. Positive Role Modelling:

  • You’re expected to be a positive role model for both staff and residents. This means adhering to Banyan House policies, procedures, and house rules.
  • By maintaining professional boundaries and demonstrating commitment, you contribute to the recovery culture within the Therapeutic Community.

3. Community Engagement:

  • Beyond individual interactions, you’ll assist in the overall management of residents and the therapeutic community. This includes participating in social activities like meals and general chores.
  • Additionally, you’ll liaise with other organizations and key stakeholders, fostering professional connections.

4. Clinical Excellence:

  • Ensuring that clinical services meet good practice standards is crucial. You’ll align your work with Banyan House’s philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Participation in education, training, and therapy programs further contributes to maintaining high-quality services.
  • To work as part of the clinical team, share experiences, to debrief and to listen to colleagues, offering support as needed.

5. Professional Development and Accountability:

  • Regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development are essential aspects of your role.
  • Keeping clinical records up to date and actively participating in agency administration, evaluation, and research projects demonstrate your commitment.
  • Being part of an “On-Call” roster ensures responsiveness and availability when needed.
  • Being flexible and willing to cover shifts as needed.

6. Promoting Banyan House:

  • You’ll engage in activities that positively promote Banyan House to prospective clients and community organizations.

7. Qualifications:
Essential

  • Minimum requirement is a Certificate IV AOD (or similar)

Desirable

  • Australasian Therapeutic Communities Association Certification
  • Diploma in AOD
