Health Promotion Assistant - Alice Springs
The purpose of this position is to support NTAHC's programs to improve the health and wellbeing of NTAHC’s priority populations.
Location: Alice Springs
Reporting to: Alice Springs Office Manager
Responsibilities: NTAHC Program Coordinators 6-month contract; Part Time (30 hours/week) As per pay scale – Level 3.1 ($34.04) Social and Community Services Employees under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2022 (SCHCDS) MA000100.
- Help serve clients, make up fitkits, keep records and count stock within the Needle and Syringe (NSP) program
- Promote health resources and health campaigns as directed, including for the Hepatitis Infoline Project.
- Willingness to learn to deliver education sessions about blood-borne viruses and sexual health and wellbeing
- Take part in events hosted and attended by NTAHC. This includes development, promotion, attendance at events
- Have good relationships with the community, other staff at NTAHC and other organisations
- Basic computer and admin skills, or willingness to learn
- Occasional work out of regular working hours (some evening and weekends); and
- Other duties as required.
Selection Criteria: To competently perform in this position, the person needs to possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience. The appointment will be based on experience, merit, and ability to meet criteria as outlined below. Essential:

3. Non-judgemental attitude
Desirable:
1. Experience in working with people living with HIV or viral hepatitis
2. Lived experience or a be a peer from one of NTAHCs priority populations
3. Good knowledge of local organisations so you can make referrals to clients
