AOD Case Manager (Pregnant Women’s Program) FORWAARD

FORWAARD Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal owned, multifaceted rehabilitation service, committed to providing specialised substance misuse treatment and related services, to improve the health and well-being of predominantly Aboriginal people and their families. FORWAARD strives to provide the highest quality treatment and individual care by changing and influencing the attitude and behaviours of the people who enter into our treatment programs.

This is a position available to suitably qualified women with AOD experience, additionally we would prefer the candidates to have worked in a maternity setting. This position will be contracted until 30 June 2021 and will be reporting to the Business Manager.  As the successful candidate you will support pregnant women with recognised AOD conditions, within this role you will be responsible for developing a client specific treatment plan, which will include both the client’s AOD and antenatal needs. You must be able to conduct individual as well as group counselling sessions for the women in both the residential and day programs and ensure that the women are supported and can attend their various appointments as well as working with the broader FORWAARD community.

Essential to work as part of a team to support FORWAARD’s clients you must have:

  • The ability to liaise with external agencies such as Health providers, Legal Services and relevant Government agencies.
  • You must have extensive experience in cultural and cross-cultural issues effecting Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people,
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the issues effecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health and welfare
  • The ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

Skills and experience

For this role you will need:

To be highly organised
To be a team player as well as have the ability to work autonomously
Have or be prepared to gain, a qualification in AOD at a certificate IV or greater level
Have or be prepared to obtain an open manual NT drivers’ licence
Have or be prepared to obtain a Police and Working with Children Clearance
