Administration Assistant - Part Time (DASA)
6 Month Contract - Part Time 22.5 hours per week
DASA is seeking an experienced Administration Assistant for a six month part-time contract. The successful candidate will support the Project Manager & DASA Executive with developing & establishing an Alternative to Custody (ATC) facility on Groote Eylandt where clients have access to tailored rehabilitation programs that target risk factors that contribute to interactions with the justice system. This program will be developed and led with a cultural lens, in partnership with the Anindilyakwa Land Council & the Aboriginal Justice Unit (Northern Territory Government).
This role will be based in Alice Springs. After the initial induction and planning period, the Administration Assistant may be provided with the opportunity to travel to Groote Eylandt to value add to the administration of the project.
There is the possibility of a 12-month extension to this role, subject to funding and milestones being met.
The Key Responsibilities of the Project Administration Assistant are:
Provide administrative support and liaison between DASA Management, Groote Eylandt Community Justice Group and the Law, Justice and Rehabilitation Steering Committee.
Coordinate all internal and external meetings relating to the Groote Eylandt ATC project, including scheduling, meeting papers and minutes.
Be the first point of contact for all correspondence relating to the Groote Eylandt ATC project; written, telephone or electronic.
Provide support to the Project Manager in the adaptation of policy and procedure from the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) ATC to be a culturally appropriate fit for the Groote Eylandt ATC.
Develop administrative systems and procedures specifically for staff based on Groote Eylandt working at the ATC.
Make travel arrangements for staff travelling for the Groote Eylandt ATC project.
Provide purchasing support to the Project Manager.
Provide basic HR support to the Project Manager, with guidance from the Executive Manager Corporate Services.
Work in a manner that is safety and quality focussed.
Qualifications
Qualifications in Business Administration would be highly regarded.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills
Essential:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to converse with a diverse range of stakeholders, program participants and staff in a non-judgemental and culturally appropriate manner.
- High level of competence with word processing, document preparation and use of computers & office technology.
- Experience in administration support roles, ideally in the Community Services setting.
- Deep respect for Aboriginal culture, with a commitment to supporting Groote Eylandt people to maintain their culture, language, land and waters into the future.
- Experience in the organising of meetings, including scheduling, preparation of meeting papers and minute taking.
- Ability to provide administrative support with recruitment processes, with direction from DASA corporate services.
- The ability to maintain focus, work to a plan and achieve outcomes.
- A commitment to understanding and carrying out work in a way that aligns with the Aboriginal Justice Agreement and the values of DASA.
