Andrew is the CEO of the Youth Support + Advocacy Service (YSAS), the largest provider of youth-specific alcohol and other drug (AOD) services in Australia, and since 2001 has been a clinical educator in the University of Melbourne’s Developmental Psychiatry Course (DPC). Andrew is the Vice President of the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare and a Board Director of the Youth Disability Advisory Service (YDAS). Andrew had a key role in establishing the Youth AOD Service System in Victoria, writing the Clinical Treatment Guidelines for the ‘Youth AOD Outreach’ service type.
Under Andrew’s leadership, YSAS continues to be at the forefront of innovation in the AOD treatment and adolescent health fields. In the last 5 years, this has focussed on the development of family inclusive models of care that are effective in reducing substance use related harm use for marginalised populations. Andrew also led the establishment of the online ‘Youth AOD’ toolbox - an evidence-informed practice resource that is widely used across Australia by practitioners, service planners and educators.
